Travel Tuesday: 7 Things to do in Las Vegas, off the Famous Strip!

Travel Tuesday: 7 Things to do in Las Vegas, off the Famous Strip.

I have lived in Las Vegas for over 20 years and it’s exciting to reside in an ever-changing city with a variety of restaurants to try and attractions to see. As much as I enjoy the assortment available on the Las Vegas Strip, we have some great places outside of the Strip corridor. Below are seven recommendations from Bon Voyage Friends!

Las Vegas Town Square

Located on the south end of Las Vegas Blvd, LVTS is one of my favorite places in town and easy to get to. To bypass the LV strip traffic, alternatives are Industrial Rd/Dean Martin Dr. or Koval Lane or exit the 215 Beltway at Las Vegas Blvd. You can spend an entire day perusing the shops from Apple to H&M, enjoying special events, restaurants, movies, Yogurtland, Whole Foods, and so much more. Plus, special events are held throughout the year. What a treat to see the Clydesdale horses!!

For authentic Italian cuisine, you will be pleased with the delectable food Ferraro’s offers. This family owned restaurant has an elegant ambiance, selections to appeal to all palettes, and even offers weekday lunch specials. They also a “Taste and Learn” wine event with a pre-fixe menu of wine and food for $50.

Botanical Gardens Springs Preserves

The Springs Preserves is located on the west side of the valley and there’s always something going on at this jewel in the desert. With 110 acres of gardens, Las Vegas history, yoga classes, and a café it’s a nice place to spend the day or afternoon. You can even check out the solar house (DesertSol) built by UNLV students (UNLV is the university Di and I attended)! Team UNLV was among 20 universities worldwide selected to compete in the 2013 U.S. Department of Education’s Solar Decathlon.

They have great happy hour specials at Tommy Bahama! The tropical ambiance, excellent food, and live music provides for a great evening. Located at LV Town Square it’s a perfect getaway from the hot heat we have in the desert. If you like Tommy Bahama apparel or candles, there’s also a retail shop connected to the restaurant.
